TORONTO HEAVY RAIN

OMG - you should have seen it come down.   I said to Jimmy this is like a freaking hurricane except without the wind.  Went to the washroom and thought to myself - the power will go out - walked out of the washroom and BAM loud noise - POWER OUT!   Got the battery baby hurricane out for later and brought in some lanterns from the Secret Place.  Adams friend came over and they played 3 games of chess then went to pick up another friend and they played Monopoly while Jim and I lied in bed listening to stuff on the transistor radio.  Incredible stories as it was happening.  Flooded homes, cars under water,  people stuck on Go trains, subways in water.  The Go just south of us had water up to waist and the Lakeshore was flooded.  We have never had anything like this happen that I can remember.  Apparently their was more rain than Hurricane Hazel.  Just went up 27 to Eglinton to get Mom her meds and when got off the highway backed up so took a detour and the traffic lights all around their are still not working.  The power was out from 5 till 2 a.m.  Absolutely incredible.  And it did have to happen at RUSH HOUR!

Here is a pic of 27 and Burnhamthorpe under water because they built rock solid concrete barriers and there is nowhere for the water to go -

Here is a link to more pics -

No electricity. Great time for the kids to see how we had fun back in the olden days. And betcha they had fun too.

You should have taught them how to make a paper maché lamp shade, easily done without electricity and so handy when the power comes back on!
