OLYMPICS
Picked up mom yesterday to get her hair done. Went to a bunch of stores before we came back to our place. So exited to find a swing (for the backyard) Pics to follow. and a cover for the porch swing. Today got my teeth cleaned. After not doing it since 2010 am now back on track. Have such fear of dentistry. The family just watched the 2012 OLYMPICS from THAMES (snicker). What a show. Just loved it. Hope you did too.

COULD BE ANOTHER HEAT RECORD SETTING DAY TODAY
...... so I think I will just post a bunch of stuff on the blog. UPDATE - We broke the record, again!!! - Also on this day in 1902 Willis CARRIER created the first air conditioner
LOVE THIS SONG BY A BEAUTIFUL AFRICAN WOMAN
Her way of playing the guitar is very different. She reminds us of Jeff Healey whom we so miss (his pub Jeff Healey Roadhouse is located on Bathurst at Queen) I so want to play a musical instrument. We have a practice chanter (to learn the bagpipes), a ukelele, an electric guitar/amp, old upright piano, electric keyboard, ocarina, a clarinet, an Andean Panflute and a small harp. We bought all these things to amuse ourselves in our old age.
Jake Shimabukuro - (While my Ukelele gently weeps)
Excellent ukelele playing. We have a ukelele and they are harder than you think to play.
THE BEAVER FAN CLUB
I googled it just for fun and there is a Beaver radio station 100.3 FM Country. Those tunes will always remind me of living out west in Pouce Coupe, Dawson Creek and Calgary.

PET PYGMY GOATS - CUTE!
.... Here is a cute story about goats - At a high school in Saskatchewan, a group of male students played a prank; they let three goats loose inside the school. But before turning them loose, they painted numbers on the sides of the goats: 1, 2 and 4…
School administrators spent most of the day looking for No. 3.

High Humidity YET just had some RAIN!
All of TDOT grass looks like straw. We just had a good downpour. I managed to weed the vegie garden and am glad about that. So glad for other areas in Canada that are kewler than we are. Loved to see the newly painted dining room of my friend up north as we are too in the middle of painting (the whole house) but with the temps have to put it on hold. For now WE MAINTAIN. Jim got the deck painted yesterday while I cleaned the livingroom carpet and mowed the front AND back and hand watered all the pots that I have planted this year. Let me tell ya, high temps make for moreso a summer of doing NOT FREAKIN MUCH! Its much like your world is on hold! Not only do I have to relate to that but also being now 60, to tell you the truth, I cannot get as much done as I did when I was younger. Jim and I are sitting here listening not to records, or tapes or even CD's but are listening to stuff on our TV - Galaxie Radio. The sun just came out - AGAIN. No break with the rain. Looking forward to Tuesday when the temps soar again to 35 (NOT!) - WHAT A SUMMER we are having! Albeit love our new little kitten PERCIVAL PUFF!

WHITEHORSE, YUKON Summer 2012
I have a friend who lives up north. They really have not had any summer. I just went onto the weather.com and see that right thru until July 24th they will not be going to reach even 20 degrees. IN FACT, it shows that on the 20th in the night they will go below 1 degree. Here is what the Almanac said:
JULY 2012: temperature 12°C (1°C below avg.); precipitation 60mm (avg.); Jul 1-3: Scattered showers, cool; Jul 4-9: A few showers, warm; Jul 10-16: Scattered showers, seasonable; Jul 17-22: Rainy periods, cool; Jul 23-31: Scattered showers, seasonable.

Temperatures in the winter season will be much colder than normal: 4¡C below normal, on average. The coldest periods will be in mid- and late November, early December, early to mid-January, mid- to late January, mid-February, and early March. THE GOOD NEWS BLOG - Comin up
Hope you all are fairing well with the drastic temps this summer. We just had not one but two history making summer temp days on Wednesday and Friday. NO SWEAT (snicker). I just pace myself and still "GET ER DONE" I just heard that these temps that we have been experiencing make you MENTALLY ILL (MEH!)
Its finally summer in Victoria - at least that is what THE WEATHER CHANNEL is CELEBRATING. and I celebrate that with you. Albeit, good news that you got soaking stuff. You will have beautiful gardens indeed.
My neighbour vegie gardeners and I covered our VEGIE garden last week with the HIGH TEMPS. I have had a bright pink adirondack with an umbrella by it just to sit and enjoy the vegie garden but this year, the umbrella came in handy to cover the melting tomatoes. "WERE MELTING, WERE MELTING" - actually what I saw was the leaves all shriveling up.
Bar NONE - we were warned that this will be the DRYEST summer in TDOT EVER! So far - they predicted right on.
I personally am excited that my Zinnias are AWESOME and - they surround our backyard.
On another note, I am blessed that my 90 year old mom is well and at peace. We do not want to stick her into a home and am so glad that she is still able to be in her awesome apartment. I got her a wicker rocking chair a few years ago and she just loves it on her balcony. She spends most of her days rocking away out their. She has a pretty balcony all decorated with a ton of geraniums.
On Mothers Day, our last black and white cat died and I wondered that I would get another cat BUT I did. His name is PERCIVAL PUFF and is furry orange. He really is a delight. The two Shia Tzu's and Percy are finally befriending each other.

BADA@#$ MOTHER
In a horrifying story out of St. Louis, Missouri, a mother posted a video to Facebook of her children fighting. Instead of pulling them apart or trying to stop the physical altercation, the mother screams at her children to hit harder, fight stronger, and to cause more harm to the other child. The video clearly shows the mother laughing in delight as her children get hurt and scream and cry; the video has been turned over to authorities.
