PYREX COLLECTABLES

We painted the inside of our cupboards a golden colour. The kitchen is a soft yellow. I started to collect PYREX that matched our Kitchen this year and this is what I found. The most recent was PYREX HARVEST which is a wheat theme. The other one is called Butterfly. I also found an OAK and ACORN separator piece. I just had to add the 'Dippy Egg" vintage pieces.

NOT PHOTOSHOPPED OF THE DAY - This Day In History

This pic was taken on September 20th, 1932. They have since tried to find the men in the pic but to no avail. Too bad eh? I would have liked to have heard some of their stories.

ITS THIS EASY - Fill an ice tray with melted chocolate and put strawberries in them and then freeze them

WOW - A FIRE TORNADO (never heard of this before)

Chris Tangey of Alice Springs Film and Television was scouting locations near Curtin Springs station, about 80km from Ularu, last week when confronted by a fiery phenomenon. A small fire was burning in nearby bushland, so Mr Tangey decided to start filming. He caught the sight of his life. A twister touched down on the spot fire, fanning it into a furious tower of flame. "It sounded like a jet fighter going by, yet there wasn't a breath of wind where we were," he told the Northern Territory News. The column of fire danced about the landscape for about 40 minutes, he said, as he and the station workers stood transfixed.

MANS BEST FRIEND - CAPTAIN the GERMAN SHEPHERD

Heartwarming story. The widow of Miguel Guzmán told reporters that their family dog, Captain, ran away from their home in Villa Carlos Paz, Argentina, shortly after her husband's death in 2006. 'We searched for him but he had vanished. We thought he must have got run over and died. The following Sunday we went to the cemetery and Damian recognised his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing, as if he were crying." "We had never taken him to the cemetery so it is a mystery how he managed to find the place. We went back the next Sunday, and he was there again. This time, he followed us home and spent a bit of time with us, but then went back to the cemetery before it started getting dark." "I don't think he wanted to leave Miguel on his own at night."

All creatures great and small, the LORD GOD made them all.

MEMORIAL TODAY FOR NEIL ARMSTRONG

The Washington National Cathedral has a beautiful stained glass called SPACE WINDOW. There's actually a tiny piece of the moon inside of it in the center of the large red orb. The window was dedicated in the presence of Neil Armstrong who, with fellow Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins presented a moon rock to the Cathedral on July 21, 1974. Encased in an air-tight, nitrogen-filled capsule in the window, the moon rock weighs only 7.19 grams but is believed to be 3.6 billion-years-old. It took four years of work and planning to make this incredible feat of art and science a reality.

The public memorial for astronaut Neil Armstrong is being held at the National Cathedral today, September 13, as NASA celebrates the life of the first man to walk on the moon.

REPOSTING HOW DECORATIVE CANDLES ARE MADE CAUSE ITS AWESOME

CAT SCRATCH TURNTABLE - Percival Puff says 'WANT'

LITTLE WILL LEADS THE 'HURRAY'S' - ADORBZ

The description for this says - We snuck out into the middle of Broad Street to snap a pic in front of City Hall and all the crowds. When Will raised his hands for the picture, cheers erupted. So he continued to repeat the gesture, getting wild response from the crowd on both sides of the street up and down the street as far as we could see. We couldn't have planned this if we practiced and practiced. I wish the video was longer.

VANCOUVER now the most expensive city in North America

Just saw this - QUOTE - Check out this vinyl-clad beaut! Nestled on a scraggly lawn in the eastern-edge of the Killarney neighbourhood of Vancouver, this recently listed bungalow could be yours for $1.25 million (though that's just the asking price). UNQUOTE - I would think that the terrain has something to do with this. Tdot is pricey too. Glad we bought by the lake when we did. Our house is now 2.5 times what we paid. Love our little 2 bedroom brick bungalow with a good size backyard and location, location, location.

MEH!

In the list of 26 things holding Canada back from being a SUPERPOWER, was this pic which indicated that Ottawa chose to slash the tourism commission's budget for 2013. As a Canadian I never have wanted to be a superpower. We are PEACEMAKERS! SO THERE!!!

Bummer Happened when I was weeding

So, I was out the other day getting rid of the weeds in our Vegie Garden. Instead of sitting on my little wagon for weeding I bent over and put my freakin back out.

THE RUSSIAN TEACHER AND A MEMORY OF MY ABUSIVE TEACHER

The male teacher scolds and humiliates the girl before her classmates. She hangs her head in shame. Then he pokes an aggressive finger into her head, berating her for being thick in that part of her person. Then, unexpectedly, she .... (see video below) Some say that this is FAKE but somewhere else it says the teacher was suspended. I think this is Grade 4. I had a terrible teacher in Grade 4 - Mrs. Mischuk who used to humiliate me in front of the whole class. My parents did NOT stand up for me. But, they did not dare challenge a teacher back in those days. BAD MRS. MISCHUCK - BAD! (by the way, the reason for the video looking this way is cause it was filmed with a kids phone)

THIS DAY IN HISTORY AND THE ONE HIT WONDER

On this date in 1945, Iva Toguri D'Aquino, a Japanese-American also known as "Tokyo Rose", was arrested in Yokohama for participating in English-language propaganda in the South Pacific.

40 years later in 1985 the band Idle Eyes had a great song out called Tokyo Rose. The band won the Juno Award for "Most Promising New Group". Also, if my memory serves me well, in 1985 an old beau and I had lunch and he never even mentioned that he played the guitar in Idle Eyes or about the Juno Award. I found out in 2008. A belated congrats on the Juno Glenn R. Smith.

The title for this was "Oliver wakes up with every emotion" but I think that the reason for all the smiles and grunt looks was ........... he was POOPING.

FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL

Great news - our son is starting Ryerson University this week. He worked hard all summer to get his grades up to get accepted. Congrats AT! On another note, in the summer of 1967 I bought 17 Magazine with Twiggy on the front cover. I went to Yorkdale Lizannes and bought navy blue wide wale corduroy and made the exact same outfit that Twiggy had on for my FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL GRADE 10. Loved that outfit.
