REMEMBERING WOOLWORTHS

Bean sent me this 50's menu from Woolworths. The Woolworths that I most remember going to was at the local Plaza in the 60's - I would do my Christmas shopping there when I was little and my mom still has the crys-tal earr-ings that I bought her one year. Some of the perfumes that I remember from the 60's were - My Sin, Tigress (gotta love the fur cap) , Tabu, Tweed, and Evening In Paris which I most remember because of the blue bottle. Pre-Highschool I mostly ordered a Grill Cheese that came with a sour pickle. Lunchtime during High School at the snack bar was usually fries with gravy and a coke. I do not see fries on this menu though. And for the computer savvy - Note the FENDER FONT in the menu.
Don't forget to scroll down and turn off the player to view the utube.

BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY

CLR, quite a while ago posted a group on her site called White Stripes. It wasn't until just recently that I realized one of their songs is from one of my favourite movies "NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE" - I liked this movie alot cause the underdog weirdo got the victory. The first song you hear is from that movie by White Stripes. And yes, I bought the T-Shirt 'VOTE FOR PEDRO' - Story goes - On the last Canadian election day I put the T-shirt on not even thinking about it being an election day and drove A.T. downtown to school but first we stopped off at the St. Lawrence Market for one of their famous back bacon on a bun. As we were sitting there people would go by and start to laugh at us - it was then that I realized that on election day I had a T-shirt on that said VOTE FOR PEDRO - cheesh. mmmmmm I just thought of something else - I am planning on making Chimichangas today for dinner which was a food mentioned in that movie. Interesting how all things connect when you least expect it!

Had a great 17th anniversary - Celebrated on Friday night (Feb. 13th) - As we were getting the 'refreshments' we got a flat tire and had to deal with that - grrrrrrrrrrrrr - Had to spend a couple of hours at Canadian Tire before the party could begin and then on Saturday had a great home-cooked meal (like at 5 P.M.) trying to stay awake to watch movies. Thanks all for the phone calls and emails - Thanks Walter who phoned twice - but due to the hardy pardy on Friday night (Jimmy stayed up for me for 36 hours Friday - railroading - yuk!) we were asleep when you called - such is getting older. Thanks Sweden (yes, we will visit most assuredly $$$ providing).

On another note - I have updated my background to trains as J.T. only has around 6 trips to go and then he retires. The actual date is May 1, 2009 but he gets his six weeks of holidays added so that is why he retires at the beginning of March 2009. I found it interesting that the actual date of his retirement is A.T.'s birthday. Things are sure going to be different around here. Most of all, all the stuff that needed getting done will finally be taken care of. I am really glad to have J.T. around for the start of gardening season as their is so much preparation at that time of year. How do I really feel about having my hubby home full-time? mmmmm I think the song that you hear tells it all. I have created a new sewing/art room in the basement workroom so as to have a space for myself. J.T. like is going to take some time off and has had 6 job opportunites to work part-time. It will be interesting to see which one he choses.

ALL ABOARD THE RETIREMENT TRAIN and yes, as the song goes I CAN TELL THAT WE ARE GONNA BE FRIENDS!

THIS WINTER AND CATS AND DOGS

We have 4 cats - Lucy (15), Bubbah (14), Buckwheat (13) and little Lennox(5) and two dogs - one is a Shia Poo (12) and the other is an imperial minature shia szu (sp.?) and is 2 years old. This winter is the first winter that I had to get the litter for the Catz cleaned out at least every 3 days as they hate the cold and the dogs go out back - pee/poo and are scratching at the door at least 1 minute after going out into the cold damp Toronto winter (and yes the puppies do get their walk). It gets a little wild here with all the pets. Lucy - the eldest has now taken to terrorizing the little dog - Chevalier and I will wake up from a deep sleep with him crying as she has him in a corner not allowing him to move - It is sometimes crazy in here as all the animals are chasing each other - growling, howling and hissing - Such is life. I get an email everyday from LOLDogs and these two are what is going on here these days. Particularly with Chevalier and Lucy.

January 14th, 1999

Sometimes things come together - well - supernatural like. I played Cold Play for Jimmy - Viva La Vida and he said it was very similar to a song that he used to listen to in the 70's called Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann - I said - Wait a minute - those guys were out in the 60's - so we listened to DO WAH DIDDY - DUM - DIDDY - U - but then we found out that Manfred Mann did the song THE MIGHTY QUINN. - This post is dedicated to Carl Quinn who left us on January 14, 1999 - Mary (my aunt and his wife) just posted a remembrance in the Toronto Star on January 14, 2009:

CARL QUINN August 17, 1931 - January 14, 1999 It's been 10 years since you passed away, I still think about you every day, You're in my heart, You're in my soul, You are what made this family whole, My best memory is when You made me your wife, You will forever be ''The Love of My Life.'' Lovingly remembered by Wife Mary and Children, Gary, Brian, Cathy, Michael, Stephen, Susie, Carol and their families.

FOR J.B.

Today, we got another dump of snow and more coming tonight - Sunday was beautiful so decided to take a pic of the house - Other pic is last week when a dump of snow came and J.T. just leaving for work (I really like the angel in the window). J.B. you know what this means for J.T. when he goes to work.
