FOR DOT - CAT LOVER LIKE ME!

SUNG TO PATTY DUKE's 1960 Sitcom - THE PATTY DUKE SHOW

Meet Jack, who came from Albert-ahhh
From over the mountains to Victoria-ahhh
But Buck's only seen - what he could.
A tuxedo from the community of Alderwood
BUT what a crazy pair!

Yet they're almost identical cousins,
Almost Identical cousins all the way.
One pair of matching bookends,
Different as night and day.

Where Jack adores a chicken coop
a romp on the roof and a new pond scoop
Our Buck loves to sleep all day
A cozy cushion makes him lose his way
What a wild duet

Still, they're cousins,
Almost identical cousins and you'll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike --

You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.

Just in case u forgot here is the tune - first scroll down to turn off music player:

DAY 34

Its Day 34 of Toronto Garbage (and other CUPE business') Strike - Yesterday, I went down to Queen Street to get some exercise. Walking is good! - I started at Ossington and made my way to Spadina and then back to Ossington. The business owners are doing their best to clean up the garbage on Queen Street. Nevertheless, there was still alot of garbage strewn here and there and, well, it did smell - when I passed a sewer it really stunk (more than normal). Here are a few pics of the BUILD-UP (new sites are being made today). Oh, this does not affect where we live because we have contractors picking up the garbage. BUT, the debris guys stopped 2 weeks ago and we have been getting alot of rain and that means WEEDS. We have 3 garbage cans full and two buckets of debris - I had to resort to those awful debris bags which when get wet or the stuff starts to decompose breaks open at the bottom. Via rail also just went on strike! What a summer with no pools opened. Mind you, people are taking their lawnmowers and mowing Government land - Thank you all for doing that!

Christie Pits - CLOSED FOR ANY FURTHER GARBAGE!

This one is CLOSED!

As is this one - CLOSED!

THIS IS ADORABLE

When hurricane Hannah separated two white tigers from their mother, Anjana came to the Rescue. Anjana, a chimp at TIGERS in South Carolina , became surrogate mom and playmate to the cubs, even helping with bottle feeding, according to The Sun. But here's the truly amazing part: This is something Anjana does all the time, having helped raise leopard and lion cubs on several occasions. The love in the chimp's eyes and on her face is priceless!

EVERYBODY SAY "AHHHHHHH"

Not the best pic but just have to get it when you can. They - Baby Boyzzzz and Chevalier - are such good buds!

Long Time Great Neighbours

Since we moved to AlderHOOD - we have known these two great people. They live just beside the church that we started to go to in 1992. Always loving, interested in WHAT UP! Me and C. used to go walking together but she got that dreaded cancer and it is in remission and she is doing well. They used to go to Zellers for breaky but now come to my fav local coffee shop to interact in the community. They sit on their front porch and welcome all who walk by and no matter what time you see them there is always someone chatting it up with these two. We drive by and yell - "CHAAAAAAAAALIE" - The other day, I was walking the BOYZ (Babe and Chevalier) and Chas motioned me to come over with a stool lifted up in his hand which he placed on the sidewalk for me to have a sit and a chat. I love these two - in my community!

Dedicated to Marj

POWER, Marjorie Ethel (Paton) - In memory of Marj who passed away peacefully in her sleep in her 88th year on July 8th, 2009. She had six siblings, all who are predeceased and was a wonderful sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many. We'll miss her saying 'hello' but it's time to say 'goodbye'. A service in Marj's memory will be held at the College Street United Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13th, 2009. In lieu of flowers, Marj would prefer that a donation be made to her favourite place of worship, College Street United Church, 454 College Street, Toronto, Ontario, M6G 1A1.

That being said, I took my mom down to the newly renovated College Street United Church at Bathurst and College on Monday for a funeral of a dear friend that Mom has know - well - since she was born. The original church built in the late 1800's ended up in our time with Condos above it. Good Idea I think and the church which is still part of the new condo is still going strong. Marj was someone in my youth who when you met her you never forgot her. She was a Betty Grable, a Marilyn Monroe. Always, perfectly manicured, jeweled, and dressed to the nines and not only that but found great fellowship and comfort in College Street United Church. It was a wonderful send off for Marj. I personally will never forget her and her sister Olive who in the 50's up at WOODLAND beach were the most fun and different family. Their cottage was just around the corner from the SHIP AHOY and my nana and her mom would play BINGO their on Friday nights. Good memories of my past. Even though so small - You know - when someone leaves us that impacted us - even in a small way - ITS such a good thing. Lots of people today - particularly College Street United Church - are BLESSED that they knew Marj.

SATURDAYS MORNING STORM

The scene at Cawthra Rd. near Atwater Ave. in Mississauga resembled that of a hurricane, with at least 30 hydro poles and wires strewn dramatically across the street.

HELLO!

This a.m. we had a real show from above. Lots of lightening and downpour. I still got out for garage sales though. The rest of the day got hot, humid and sunny. It's Saturday (I work hard all week and relax on Sat./Sun.) I have nothing new to post so I changed the background on the blog, added a side gadget and wondered what I could post. Found some funny signs:

...BUT THIS ONE IS APPROPRIATE FOR OUR CURRENT GARBAGE ETC. STRIKE

...by the way, I have noticed an increased presence of FLYS during this strike!

Dundas & Spadina - Day 20 - Thank you www.torontoist.com - People and busness's are able to take garbage to designated drop offs so it does not look all that bad. Yet, the other day I was driving down the Lakeshore, and there is a TON of garbage in the designated (at least 3) areas along the waterfront in High Park. Another thing is - ALL THE POOLS ARE CLOSED - It's an interesting Summer in TDOT!

ALICE IN WONDERLAND 2010

I really like Alice in Wonderland -eh CLR? - Get ready for March 2010 with Johnny Depp playing the MadHatter

I made the MadHatter and Rabbit for my garden 5 years ago but need to repaint and fix up some of the clothes.

I made this scarecrow in 1991. It has been a male farmer and a female but now I am making it into Groucho Marx. Can't wait to have some time to do crafts.

This KITCH plastic cookoo clock is on the deck and plays a song on the hour and chimes. Found it online - Apparently it is a collector. I got it at a garage sale for 2 bucks.

Josh sits on the deck and plays Whistle While You Work on a sensor which I have turned off cause it irritates everyone. Josh says, 'HI CALEB'

STILL THINKIN ABOUT THOSE BELLS

Here is a pic of the antique horse bells on the gate (again) - click on pic to make larger to view if you want.

Here is a pic of what they will look like when I get them cleaned up. The sound is amazing. I found an interesting site on how to clean them up and it is to put into vinegar on stove and simmer.

Aliens at Jimmy's Joint

When I was younger we used to hang out at James Gardens (J.T. used to call it Jimmys Joint) Here is an interesting picture of when I drive in and see my mom and her friend Lil:

My mom and Lil are know at "Jimmy's Joint" as the WEDDING WATCHERS - They go every Saturday and Sunday and even are offered Champagne and food. I am going to get in touch with our local newspaper - The Guardian - and see if they will do a piece on these two older gals. Mom is 87 and Lil will be 90 in November.

Dragonfly Greetings

Yesterday, when I opened the front door a Dragonfly was stationed on the front screen door. I took many pics - inside and out and was surprised that he or she just held fast.

SUNDAY BARBEQUE RELAXIN!

Mother (Lucille) and son (Buckwheat) relaxing in the backyard while the barbeque smokes away!

Chevalier pointing his nose toward the smells of steak cooking.

J.T. brings in the barbeque while the animals watch on - But not for long - particulary the dogs who will be sitting up for some steak!

ONLY ON BRN'S LINE

I had to laugh when I saw this CREATIVE idea to attract people to a chap that just opened up a VEHICLE DETAILING AND CAR WASH SHOP in our little corner of the world.

NEW GARDEN

Perennials are interesting. I usually put in around 10 new perennials every year and end up with around 4 that survive our winter. This year I loved what was going on at the east side of the south garden. First purple Iris with pink and white Bleeding Heart and when they were finished the Yellow Four O'Clocks showed off. So - why not do what works. I just bought 3 Clarence Iris (huge purple with white tops), 3 Bleeding Heart (2 white and one pink) to match the east side - planted on the west side of the south garden. Behind them I found something that I have wanted for quite sometime. A fabulouse fuschia Bee Balm FIREBALL. I LOVE TO ATTRACT BEES. Just behind the Fireball I planted a Rose of Sharon which was growing all on its own on the East Garden. I love the flowers of the Rose of Sharon. Mine is tri-colour - White, Pink and Mauve. One day this will look amazing. mmmmmm - I should rename this blog - TDOTBLOGGER GARDEN. Hope you all enjoy looking at my garden labours.

Arbour Waves

J.T. built this arbour for my 50th birthday - 7 years ago. When I first started to add pots, I would put in two wave petunias but one would always get over crowded. For the past 2 years I just put in one wave for $2.69 and voila. Bean - next year get into THE WAVE!

Wonderful Wave Petunias

A pic of the front of the fence into the backyard. Note the Horse sleigh bells on the fence - A bit of a thorn in my side. When I first got these they were brass. J.T. sprayed them black to BLEND. CHEESH. I wanted to hear the bells. Everytime I go thru that door I think about how to take the black spray paint off and make them brass again. If you have an idea - let me know - I will google soon to bring them back to their original splendour.

I just love wave petunias - For $2.69 - I just put 2 into this large fence rod iron planter and this is just July 5th. I got the middle trailing Ivy at a garage sale for a buck. Cheap gardening. If you have the patience to wait - it is well worth it

FIREBALL - or Bee Balm

These are amazing - and most asuredly will attrack bees to your garden. - They stand tall - the one I just got is 3 feet. The boyz - Chevalier and Babe got into the pic as well as Bubbah on the yellow adirondak.
