CHEER UP! - a happy little song ; ^ )

I will now be getting myself a 'TRIANGLE'

Cheer up!
'Cause nothing really matters when you look up into outer space
It's a great big world, and there's no need to cry

Cheer up!
We're all interconnected to the reaches of the galaxy
And my best friend says he came from the sky

He traveled to the Earth aboard a pink space ship
It's hard for him to hide behind those eyes...

Cheer up!
The atoms in your body are as old as every dinosaur
You're a special part of one big grand design

Cheer up!
We're all in this together to discover what we're living for
13 billion years, and there's still time

Every night, I wish upon a star so bright
Waiting for the others to arrive

Cheer up!
'Cause nothing really matters when you look up into outer space
It's a great big world, and there's no need to cry
13 billion years, and there's still time...

WD-40 literally stands for Water Displacement, 40th attempt. That’s the name straight out of the lab book used by the chemist who developed WD-40 back in 1953. PRIME MINISTER HARPERS GENEALOGY and a sad mystery!

I love genealogy and I was just wondering if there was any info on PM Harper. There was. Here's the link but you have to scroll down a bit to get to the story entitled: 'Prime Minister Harper's Tantramar Roots.' (Thanks to Al Smith and Donna Beal)

A FEW THINGS FOR DOTTIE and anyone else who likes to GARDEN, or HAS CHICKENS

Found a 'greenie" gardener Group on Facebook and joined and found these pics that I want to share with you. The chicken coop is awesome. Lacking space? How about using gutters, plastic pop bottles or bags for lettuce. The next time you have green onions, don't throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. We just use kitchen scissors to cut what we need for meals and periodically empty out the water, rinse the roots off and give them fresh water.

GLOW IN THE DARK QUARTERS COMING SOON

The mint's latest collectible coin features a dinosaur whose skeleton shines at night from beneath its scaly hide. It's actually two images on one face, which could be a world's first. The other side depicts Queen Elizabeth. Her Majesty does not glow in the dark. Made of cupronickel, the coin has a face value of 25 cents but is much larger than a regular Canuck quarter. It shows an artist's rendering of Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai, a 4-ton, 26-foot dinosaur discovered in Alberta in 1972. It's the first in a four-coin series of photo-luminescent prehistoric creatures.
The mint says the skeleton can best be seen after the coin is exposed to sunlight, or to fluorescent or incandescent light for 30-60 seconds, adding that the luminescence won't fade with time.

FLYING PEOPLE IN NEW YORK

A bizarre stunt that fooled hundreds of New Yorkers into thinking people were flying over their city became an online hit. Three figures were seen apparently flying over the city's landmarks in late January. In a viral stunt to promote the found-footage superhero movie "Chronicle," Twentieth Century Fox sent three remote-controlled flying objects shaped like humans into the New York City skies.

WHERE DID ALL THE BUTTERCUPS GO?

Sounds like a song by Peter Paul and Mary but really, I have not seen buttercups in eons. I remember finding a buttercup and putting one under a friends chin and if it shows yellow than you know they like butter - WOW! (hee hee) So, I found a place to visit - WILDFLOWER FARM in Coldwater to get some buttercup bulbs. Found this great pic of a Dog in buttercups - Here is a link to see more animals in flowers:

'Larry,' Quaker of Oatmeal Fame, Gets a Makeover

Fact - From 1939 to 1942 HAROLD McCAULEY(1913-1977) worked in Haddon Sundblom's busy Chicago art studio, where he happened to pose for Sundblom's original painting of the cheerful Quaker Oats Man whom they nicknamed LARRY.

Larry now shows his shoulders, making him seem stronger and more vibrant and trimming his hair makes him look lighter and his neck longer. "It's the same neck," says Mr. Connors, but the haircut "makes him look thinner." They also removed his double chin and smoothed the rolls and plumpness in his face and neck taking off about five pounds. Quaker didn't want to make him look too young, so he still has crow's feet and a little sparkle in his eye. The color red is prominent in the new logo. Two blocks in slightly different tones form the backdrop. The shift in shades "adds a sense of movement," says Mr. Connors.

SALVADOR DALI

CANADA DOSN'T HAVE SENSE oops I MEAN CENTS

After 104 years and 35 billion pennies, The Royal Canadian Mint will stop producing the 1-cent coin this month. “It costs taxpayers a penny-and-a-half every time we make one,” Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said. The Harper government says it’s leaving it to businesses to work out for themselves how to round off cash transactions to the nearest five-cent increment.

THRIFTED FINDS THIS WEEKEND

This was a shocker. I figured it was a $ store find. Turns out the Small Sewing Machine Teapot by Cardinal is starting at $28.85 on ebay. I paid $.25 (On another note I did not know that computer key boards do not have a key for CENTS? - and I googled and all the stuff they say does not work so best just to copy and paste?)

Diamond Block and Fan Pressed Glass Creamer - pretty sure my mom had one. Found an interesting book online - A COMPLETE GUIDE TO PRESSED GLASS by Bob H. Batty listed with a pic with info. but it won't let me in again to view as I have reached my limit for viewing ----% :^( -- albeit the E-book indicated it was RARE! I paid $.25.

MORE THRIFTED FINDS THIS WEEKEND.

50% off at Goodwill this weekend and I grabbed a church for our XMAS village (paid $2.50). This is now the 2nd church that I have with a FORT LIKE GUNNER Sq. Turret which I am now wondering why they built older churches this way? And what denomination did this? Anyway, its a collectible retired Dickens Village 1989 Knottinghill Church (Department 56) piece which I found out is worth $98.00.

Dye Easter Eggs with a Man's Tie

I have never done this before but wanted to give it a try so I headed out to the thrift store and picked 3 ties to make Easter Eggs. Here is one link to show you how to do it:

Apparently they must be silk and I am not sure if these are!!! Also, dyed easter eggs should not be eaten if the have been left out of the fridge for more than 2 hours.

VINTAGE COOKIE JAR UPDATE

Ok, so I got the COW JUMPED OVER THE MOON and have been researching my next favourite FLASHER vintage cookie jar and just found out that it is a CORNER COOKIE JAR - This one is now my quest!

Looking forward to "60"

A friend just sent me an email with a bunch of funny thoughts. Here is one: Did you ever notice: The Roman Numerals for forty (40) are XL.

That got me thinking. Being that at 40 my size was an "XL" and by 50 it should have been "L" - the good news is at 60 - "LX" my weight will start to go backwards. (snicker)
