MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT

Today I watched, online, Magic in the Moonlight with Colin Firth and Emma Stone.  A magician wants to prove that a medium is fake.  They fall in love.  End of story.  Colin Firth played his arrogance well yet I was wanting in the mediums role played by Emma Stone.  It just didn't work for me.  I think Woody should have cast Cate Blanchett (Blue Jasmine) in the role.  Something good did come out of it though - a song - that I want to learn on the keyboard.  I haven't as of yet been successful finding the sheet music but I did find a youtube - Ruth Etting original from 1927 and what they played in the movie - It all depends on you.  My keyboard teacher is getting hit with this one when I restart lessons in January.

Here are the lyrics:
Lovers depend on moonlight for a love affair
Babies depend on mothers for their tender care
Flowers depend on sunshine, and the morning dew
Each thing depends on something, and I depend on you
I can be happy, I can be sad
I can be good, or I can be bad
It all depends on you
I can be lonely out in a crowd
I can be humble, I can be proud
It all depends on you
I can save money, or spend it
Go right on living, or end it
You’re to blame, honey, for what I do
I know that I can be beggar, I can be king
I can be almost any old thing
It all depends on you

I just had a random thought...and other stuff

2015
is
going
to
be
awesome

WOW, this image reminds me of the stone house that we lived in overlooking the Humber River - 2.5 acres.  We are purging the house and I was going thru the stuff under the stairs and there were the 3 wreaths that I used to put up in the windows.  I kept them - memories.

from Soul Chronicles

And another image shows up that reminds me of the same stone house,  This is what they call a Christian door - the cross is at the top and the open bible at the bottom.

JUST A FEW CHRISTMAS POSTS THAT I SAVED TO BLOG ON

How to make a Christmas Tree napkin - pretty neat.

He gives his kids a silly Christmas present but the kiddos are still grateful.  Sweeeet!

Ewwwwww.  This does not appeal to me at all, albeit creative AND EXPENSIVE to make.  Rainbow Fudge.

For anyone who has ever seen A Christmas Story - it is a hoot.  I video taped it in the 90's and we used to watch it every Christmas.  It is set in the 50's and has a father much like Dagwood, a perfect mother much like Blondie and 2 kiddos.  The father gets a leg lamp which he won from a contest and they place it in the front window of their retro home.  Today, the home that the movie was filmed in still has a leg lamp in the window.  I googled it - see for yourself - 3159 W 11th St., Cleveland, OH.  You can watch the movie free online.

...and here she is FESTIVE VINTAGE BARBIE (my profile pic right now on Facebook)

LEGO INGENUITY

Thanks to the ingenuity of a veterinarian and some spare LEGO bricks, this tiny tortoise is now able to roll around on his own little wheelchair. Blade's owner, Iris Peste, took the tortoise to the vet after she noticed that he was struggling to move around. The vet, Dr. Carsten Plischke, discovered that due to a host of problems including worms and a growth disorder, Blade's limbs had become so weak that he could no longer walk on his own. In a stroke of genius, Dr. Plischke borrowed some of his own son's LEGO blocks, which he fitted to the underside of the tortoise's shell. With two sets of wheels supporting his body, Blade is now able to scoot around while his legs heal, after which he'll be able to walk again.
"For people there are walkers, rollators or prostheses but for animals there are no companies that produce something like that," Dr. Plischke says. "The size variation of animals means they can't establish uniform products. So you have to come up with creative solutions; every animal needs its own treatment." Luckily, there are vets like Dr. Plischke, who are creative and compassionate enough to help any animal in need.
Tks to My Modern Met

AND, speaking of LEGO - how awesome are these 'soon to be in stores' LEGO birds.  Starting in January 2015, you can purchase Poulsom’s blue jay, hummingbird, and robin models. Each sits on its own stand, the hummingbird has its long beak pointed…

GHOST TOWN ON FIRE - CENTRALIA, Pennsylvania

Centralia, PA is a modern day ghost town with an ongoing underground inferno. Silent Hill was inspired by Centralia's plight. It was also a model for various movies that wanted to give a hell-like appearance in a ghost town.  450 acres undergound has been burning for over 50 years ----- Very interesting indeed.
