GOT THE GOLD - CANADA vs. U.S.A. WOMENS HOCKEY

YOU ROCK CANADIAN WOMENS HOCKEY LEAGUE! THANKS FOR GETTING US THE GOLD!!!

How about that game last night Canada vs. Russia - Amaaaaaaaaazing! Final score 7-3 Canada. My Uncle Bruce played alot of hockey in his early days. He played for the Marlees, Oshawa Senators, Valleyfield Quebec and one game with the Montreal Canadians where he scored a goal. My dad was an amazing skater and used to take me skating when I was little in the very cccccccccold Hart Rink just off the Westway. Girls hockey was not known when I was little but I sure loved to play floor hockey and would have loved to get into a girls ice hockey game. Tomorrow, Canada vs. Slovakia

Lemon Loaf with Mom

I must explain first though. During the Superbowl the old oven at our home went on fire due to all the grease that those boyz were puttin in their - Albeit - it was the last thing to be cooked - Pizza - Anyway, we decided not to get a new element but a new stove and it will be delivered on Thursday to match the relatively new fridge. It has a self cleaning oven and a lift top for the elements to clean - Mom helped us out with this and we got a great deal from Sears. I have been going up to moms with stuff to cook in her oven. Today we made a Lemon Loaf!

NAIL BITING CANADA VS. SWITZERLAND

Sidney Crosby, left, scored the decisive goal in the shoot-out on Thursday night to lead Canada to a laboured victory over Switzerland after regulation failed to separate the teams

It was nailbiting at our home as J.T. could hardly stay still. ME, I sat quietly embroidering my new idea on my jean jacket cause I would have been going craaaaaazy. Embroidery is soooooo soothing. LOL!

YESTERDAY

Went to my moms with my friend and cooked Shepherds Pie. After went to LaRose plaza for lunch. It was delicious. The lady (owner) has been there for 39 years which is probably when the plaza was built. I used to go their with my mom and her second husband to eat in the early 80's. The place is still decorated for the early 80's in dusty rose. We got a kick out of the plate which is Wedgewood from England and is as old as the place is.

I BELIEVE that Jack the Cat will be well. Tonight my buddy out west emailed me because one of her fav pets is under the weather. He sure is a loved boy. I too love animals like they are human and well, all prayers out tonight for Jack-The-Cat who suddenly is under the weather. This pic is so beautiful of him:

I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE ITS STILL THERE!!!

I would sometimes think about the house I lived in, in Calgary and figured it would have been demolished and an apartment put up , but today, a friend sent me a great street google site - . I found 13th St. S.W. in Calgary and started to peruse the north side of the street and I found my old house which I lived in from December 1975 to July 1977. Great memories of that place. I lived in the basement for a little bit (and I mean basement - There was a small elongated room in half the basement and a huge snake like furnace which I monitored. I then moved up to the second floor. Many a good time was spent on the balcony barbequeing. Carol moved to Calgary and lived next door but I think her place was sold cause it looks like apartments. Tons of stories from that street for sure!!! I'll find some pics from that era and add to this posting - I sure hope I can find the one of me and the landlord - Good Ole Fred! But guess what Street Google missed the south west corner of my city so I am not there. (This is a quick digital pic - you can email them to your inbox but that is another story) http:www.vpike.com

“It’s too good to be true.”

...is what Alex Bilodeau the 22-year-old said after winning Canada’s first gold Olympic medal.

Olympics 2010

While tomorrow February 14th is our 18th anniversary, I have a heart in the middle of livingroom front window and hanging hearts down the side livingroom windows and around 6 hearts on the Maple Leaf tree out front. I made a poster tonight for the Olympics. That will also go on the front window. I thought the technology was pretty virtual last night as we and - well - tons of other people watched. I agree with my Mom - it sure was Canadian. Updating the poster with brighter colours.

OH, WHEN THE SAINTS, COME MARCHING IN........

On Sunday, the boyz and 1 gal brought over tons of food to barbeque and put in the oven for the Saints/Colts game. There were at least 20 1.5" hamburgers, 150 chicken wings, a 1.5' by 2.5' pizza, 12 sausages and a gal brought over a wonderful cheezy, burger dip. The burgers and the sausages went out to the barbeque and the rest got cooked in the oven which by the way after half-time went on fire and now we have to get a new element for the old stove. LOL! While the boyz all watched the game, the gal came up and sung some country music for me. She sure has a sweet voice. A great day was had by all AND MY TEAM WON - WHAHOAAAH - SAINTS YOU ROCK!

A GREAT DAY TODAY!

Our local coffee shop is rockin - Not only does it have the best breakfast in town but the coffee is supurb. Its not a chain. The other coffee shop just down the street went under and all of those people are heading to MY coffee shop. Good to see Ron today who now comes to MY coffee shop - LOL!

Doris has Alzheimers and lives in a fabulous facility which my cousin found for her. My cousin decorated the room and it is bright and cheery and very welcoming. Folks, don't let those that you know with Alzheimers make you think they cannot respond to you. While the soul (the mind, the will and the emotions) are not able to communicate, the spirit will. Talk to their spirit, not their soul. i.e. Don't say things like do you know I am here - say things like - I know you can hear me! Doris responded today and in that I am sure her spirit is alive. What a beautiful pic of Bruce and Doris!

Doris came from a large family. That is Doris to the far left.

Mom and I had a great lunch at Islington Golf Club. What a great pic of mom. She has really been struggling since the death of her brother but I felt today that she is coming out of it. Her memory is going but heck - I sure hope I can remember as much as she does when I am 88 - God willing!

CABINTRY CARPENTER

What a fantastic job my friend did making this bookshelf which has recessed shelves. It looks like Country Living to me. His workroom is a woodworkers paradise.
